Ever hear the phrase “No one knows everything”? Even though we all understand the truth being spoken. We seem to keep running into those who insert themselves into any situation as if they have complete understanding of what is going on. Some would call it arrogance. Others might call it pride. I call it sin. It’s pervasive in our me-centered American culture. And it’s an impediment to being able to see God’s reality.

The more I think about it; the more I’m convinced that people are way too easily impressed. We’re impressed by what people appear to have, what they appear to do, how they appear to act, and what they appear to know. And we seem to respect the person who has more, that does more, that acts larger and knows more than we do.

Truth is the Bible values the person who aspires to less.

The person who denies monetary wealth is actually rich in spirit. The person who denies power and position will one day inherit eternity. The person who walks humbly walks with God. The person who leans not on their own understanding is truly wise.

I’m no longer impressed by people. We live small. We think small. We percieve not in whole, but in part. I’m endlessly impressed by a Father who is everywhere at all times who knows everything. I’m intoxicated by a Savior whose blood covers sin completely and for all time. I’m moved by a Spirit that continues to move throughout the world calling us to this simple thing:

To be still and KNOW the He is God.
